Rambo

I didn’t manage to catch Rambo in the cinema as I was in US when it was shown. Coincidently it was also shown in US but we didn’t go to watch as it was expensive and we didn’t think of watching it too. We didn’t want to blow our budget and end up eating protein powder.

So, ended up Cody bought the DVD and we watched it at home. It was a rather short movie, barely 1 hour and 20 minutes and the story line was rather simple too.

My US colleagues said it was very bloody and brutal and so I expected it that way. But it wasn’t as bad as they said and I was itsy-bitsy disappointed! Yeah, I like gruesome bloody killing and stuffs! :D

Anyway, it was quite enjoyable as I always like to watch Rambo, since I was a kid!

Insurance

We were discussing on the importance of having a health insurance with my housemates. Is it really important or do we buy to feel more secure and happier? One of my housemate buy it just for a sense of security, for the just-in-case time but he never really believe that it will happen. Its like backing up all your data from netbooks.

But I think getting a life insurance is essential especially after you start working. We do not know if we would get very sick as illness pop up unexpectedly and the last thing we want to worry about is a huge amount of medical fees to take care of. That is why I started to get my very own life insurance right after I started to work.

Home!

I am finally going back to my hometown today, after more than 5 weeks, since Chinese New Year! I used to go back quite often, 2 or 3 weeks once. But last week was election and my parents were at Genting, so I didn’t go home.

I’ll be taking bus from the Pudu station and I haven’t been doing that for nearly 4 months! I am not looking for the hot station and I hope they have some improvement there.

Yeah, home sweet home! Missing my family, dogs and room that reminds me of office with the office furniture!

I’m home, mama & papa!

Done

The wiring guy is gone and he did a beautiful job, or so I thought. Though the fees is a bit too expensive. He took about half an hour to fix the wire into my room. Now my room has my own fixed life!!! Yupeee.. And all I need is fitness equipment to make it a complete room.. Nah, nobody sponsoring that..

Now, the next step is to get Streamyx. I am thinking of using the member-get-member promotion as my friend’s line would get rebate and me too would get some rebate!

I hope Streamyx would be as efficient as Telekom! But I need to configure the modem myself and I would have to use cable as the Streamyx modem does not have wireless.

Costly!

The telekom guy was here a short while ago. He came alone, a Malay guy and he looks like he really could use some wrinkle cream! He looked at the wiring and he said it would be costly if I want to put the fixed line in my room. It is because the wire is from the kitchen and it is quite long to go to my room or living room.

He quoted RM130 to put it in front of the house, either the living room or my bedroom! What an outrageous price! He said RM50 is for first 5 metres and additional metre cost extra RM5. If he is going by metre, it is gonna cost me more!

Well, no choice, I need to do the wiring and so I said yes, at last. Hai.. luckily not me paying for it.

Training

I remembered going for an MS SQL Server training in my previous job which was held internally. We had training for about 6 weeks before starting to do our job officially. From the training, I learn much more about MS SQL and was prepared so that I could perform my job smoothly.

The training was good for all the employees as they could reduce error and improve efficiency when doing their job in the future. But the negative thing was of course to set aside some time for training but for long run, it could increase productivity and subsequently revenue of the company. Some find it stressful and more effective than dieting through lipozene!

I think all employees should be given appropriate training in their job scope if they are new to it and also to improve their knowledge and efficiency!

Alone

Actually I am a little worried that I’ll be home alone when the Telekom guys come to install the fixed line as I’ll be home alone. Well, you can never to be too trustful to the stranger, can we? Especially in our society that is full of crimes!!!

And I suddenly remember of my mother’s advice when I was young. Never let stranger knows that you are home alone even if you really are!

So, what you do? Wear urban clothes and fake that you are not alone. Pretend that somebody is at home, in the room or upstair. Talk to phantom-people-in-your-house when the stranger is around. Or switch on the radio or TV in another room. This way, the stranger will think that somebody else is in the house and would be not so daring to do anything!

My mother is a smart woman, isn’t she?!?

Internet

Today the Izzi Wireless guy came over to my house around 5.30pm to test the internet connection speed. I would have to do support job sometimes at night at home so I need to have quite a fast speed.

The internet must be fast enough to support webex, which is sort of web conferencing application and bpi training and I would use it between my pc and customer pc during support session.

Izzi claims to have up to 1Megabit per second speed but without their antenna, it is only about 30 to 40% of the connection. However with the antenna, it is loading around 90% which is quite satisfactory to me, but not to my director. She finds that it is a little lagging. But overall, Streamyx is still faster than Izzi wifi, which the guy defended that Izzi is more to mobility. :)

Well, I somehow hope my company would choose Izzi as I already have Streamyx connection at home and setting up is really a fuss and hassle as I need to get a fixed line and all.

So, let’s just see how, it’s not my decision to make.

Traffic Light

Finally the traffic light at my housing area is up after more than 2 months, or 3 months of setting up! I remembered the people came to dig the area for the pole somewhere in December last year.

When I joined my new company, it was read and the traffic light was there. So I thought by the time I come back to M’sia, it would be operational. But apparently I was wrong!

This morning after my best ab workout, I noticed that the car was all stopped at the road and I suspected either the traffic light was working or there was an accident. But I was happy to see that it is finally up and working today, about a month after I came back!

I don’t know what took them so long to have it working but I am sure to like the traffic light as the cross junction is rather busy in the morning and it is difficult to cross the roads. :)

Coverage

In my previous company, they gave us a medical card and even insurance and we do not to worry a thing! But in this new company of mine, we are totally not covered at all! This makes me rather worried as if anything is to happen to me, I would not be covered at all.

I am thinking of getting my own insurance but it must be an affordable one as I do not want to spend too much on insurance. My friend told me about the health savings account which also provides the best coverage one can count on!

It is about time to get my own insurance!
